The safe temporary stay at a guest household for Ukrainian refugees
RefugeeHomeNL has been established to provide refugees from Ukraine with safe temporary stay at private guest households in the Netherlands. We are a collaboration of the leading NGOs: the Red Cross, the Salvation Army, VluchtelingenWerk and Takecarebnb. RefugeeHomeNL is supported by the Ministry of Justice and Security of the Netherlands.
Would you like to apply for a temporary stay at a private guest household in the Netherlands?
When you arrive in the Netherlands, you have to deal with a lot of uncertainties. The Dutch government can offer you to stay at a shelter. These are often large premises where many people are staying at the same time. Therefore a stay at a guest household would possibly suit you better. RefugeeHomeNL connects guests (refugees from Ukraine) and private guest households in the Netherlands. You can stay with a guest household for a period of three months. The guest households have been pre-screened by RefugeeHomeNL. You and the guest household will be supported by RefugeeHomeNL during the introduction, the stay and around the time of departure. This is how we make the stay a safe and pleasant experience for both parties.
Would you like to register as a host family?
Millions of people have fled the war in Ukraine. Some of these people have already come to the Netherlands, and some are considering to come to our country. Even now during the ongoing conflict, many Dutch people are willing to be helpful to Ukrainian refugees, e.g by giving them shelter under the roofs of their homes. Becoming a guest household provider can mean a lot to someone else. RefugeeHomeNL has been established to support the guest households and their guests, so that the temporary homestay is pleasant and safe for both parties.
RefugeeHomeNL started as a pilot project in the spring of 2022. Some valuable experiences were gathered first in a limited number of municipalities. Since June 1, 2022, the RefugeeHomeNL approach has been implemented in stages throughout the Netherlands. Municipalities and safety regions are valued partners in this regard.
